Visit to FYKAYAS


FYKAYS is a leading manufacturer of high temperature thermocouples used in the steel industry in INDIA since last 40 years. Mrs Kripa Sagar, Director, Fykaays visited VISHWANIKETAN in September and delivered a guest lecture to the final year BE mechanical students on various opportunities in the Indian steel industry. This was followed by an appeal to the students to write a one page note about their understanding of the company products, primarily the THERMOCOUPLE

  Out of all the notes that were received by FYKAYs , four students were selected by them and were offered internship in the company. The students are work on various aspects of thermocouple making process. Department of Mechanical engineering arranged a visit of all the selected four students to FYKAAYS , Bhayandar on 11th Oct 2017. The students were given a small brief about the company and were then taken around for a visit to all the departments. They were exposed to the actual process of thermocouple manufacturing in the first half of the day. Latter half they were involved in a discussion related to the pain areas of FYKAAYs. A Special Purpose Machine which was already designed and fabricated by the company was studied in details. Its operations were actually timed by the group and results were noted for further analysis. A solution will be provided by the students to automate the thermocouple tip manufacturing process. Currently 100 tips are being manufactured by 1 person every hour. Students have suggested a modification which will deliver 100 tips every 5 minutes.
          Along with this, a TIME MOTION analysis will be carried out as an additional task in the post processing procedure of the thermocouple tips. The students will be presenting a report at the end of their internship on this ANALYSIS.
          The small and medium scale industries are opening doors to our students. This in itself is a big step towards BRIDGING the GAP between ACADEMIA and the INDUSTRY. Department of Mechanical is looking forward for more such collaborations.

BHANDARDARA HYDROELCTRIC PLANT VISIT

 Department of Mechanical Engineering arranged an industrial visit for B.E. students to Bhandardara Hydroelectric power plant on 5th & 6th October. Total 45 students attended th visit along with three faculty members. It was a nice blend of practical knowledge and natures beauty.

Prof. Khandekar Sir's visit to PRICOL TECHNOLOGIES LTD

  On 22nd Sept 2017 a three member team from VISHWANIKETAN comprised of Mr Dhananjay Khanzode,Director VIC, Ms Shalini Singh ( TPO ) and Prof Anand Khandekar visited PRICOL Technologies Limited, PUNE office at Bawdhan , Pune.The meeting was attended by Mr Prabhakar Neelkant, Consultant- Technical and Training , their HR personnel and Mr Vivekananda Challa, Practice Manager, Engineering and Design ( via SKYPE ) as representatives from PRICOL Technologies.             Prof Anand Khandekar initially briefed them about VISHWANIKETAN, its philosophy and the entire Project Based Learning Cycle. They were informed about the BUSINESS club and its methods, the SE presentations and the TE group discussions. In addition the entre VAP process and its functioning was explained.
